iciHaiti - Politic : Haiti will take over the rotating presidency of COFCOR
At the 22nd meeting of the Council of External and Community Relations (COFCOR) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in St John's, Commonwealth of Grenada, the Foreign Ministers of the CARICOM discussed a number of topics of interest both for the region collectively as for Haiti, including among others : bilateral relations, multilateral and hemispheric relations, the situation in Venezuela, the reform of the United Nations Security Council, climate change and the future of ACP-EU relations.

The Chancellors have almost unanimously recognized the importance for CARICOM to harmonize and deepen its relations both with its bilateral partners, notably with the United States, Canada, Colombia, Cuba and Chile, as well as with its multilateral organizations partners such as the Organization of American States (OAS), the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the European Union (EU), and the United Nations (UN).

It was also decided that the Republic of Haiti will assume the rotating presidency of the COFCOR for the period 2020-2021, which implies, among other responsibilities, that the country will bring the word of the Community on the international scene during this period and organize in the summer of 2020, the XXIII Statutory Meeting of COFCOR.

The Haitian delegation was chaired by Jean Jude Piquant, Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bocchit Edmond.
