iciHaiti - DR : 1,239 Haitians arrested and deported
The Directorate General of Migration (DGM), informs that by order of Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of the DGM and following a work of intelligence and denunciations of the population on the location of Haitians presumed illegal, several operations of Migratory control were carried out in different communities in Azua, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, La Vega, La Romana, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Montecristi, Santiago de los Caballeros, San Cristobal, Puerto Plata and Valverde provinces, as well as the National District and municipalities of Santo Domingo North and West during which 1,667 Haitians were controlled

After verification of the migration status of the persons checked, using biometric readers in consultation with the central database, 1,239 Haitians (74%) were declared irregular and taken to the border posts of Dajabón and Jimaní, Piña, for to be registered and deported to Haiti.

The teams deployed for these operations were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
