From May 31 to June 30, 2019, the Centre d’Art presents at Maison Dufort the exhibition "Manman zile, Island model, Island Template" of the Haitian visual artist of the new generation Tessa Mars (Born in Port-au-Prince in 1985)

The three titles in English, French and Creole are a reminder of the multiculturalism of our societies and their historical experiences.

This exhibition offers visitors an exploration of the island and urban lifestyle through the Haitian experience. It takes Haiti with its singular history as a subject of study to better understand the issues related to "insularity" inside and outside the boundaries of the territory.

Tessa Mars reflects the experience of Haitians and also seeks to determine how different power relationships sometimes violently shape our island societies.

It should be noted that the works and series presented in this exhibition were mostly done in residence in various Caribbean countries, in the United States and in Germany and have never been shown in Haiti.
