The US Coast Guard intercepted 22 illegal migrants of Haitian origin more than 200 kilometers northeast of Jacksonville, Florida as they tried to enter the United States illegally by sea.

The authorities said that all Haitians "will be repatriated to their country in accordance with the US immigration policy."

According to the Coast Guard, since October 2018, 2,727 Haitians have been intercepted while attempting to enter the United States illegally through the Florida Strait.

In addition, the US Embassy sadly announces the death of a Haitian citizen during the sinking of a dangerously overloaded sailboat on July 4th. Recalling that "These trips are not worth it if they are going to cost you your resources, your family or even your life."
