iciHaiti - Sports : Minister Charles meets Basketball League leaders
On 1 August at the Gymnasium Vincent (Romain lane, Port-au-Prince), Edwing Charles the Minister of Youth and Sports was invited to meet the leaders of the leagues of the Haitian Basketball Federation (FHB) to collect their grievances and consider initiatives and development prospects for the second most popular sport in Haiti before proceeding with the delivery of materials to be given to members of the Federation.

The exchanges between the speakers and the Ministers focused on, among other things on :

  • Insufficient and urgent rehabilitation of sports facilities across the country;
  • The subsidy for league activities in the regions, especially during the summer holidays;
  • The supervision of young people from the border areas generally recovered by the Dominicans;
  • Relations between departmental representatives in departments and league leaders.

The resigning Minister Charles took note of the demands and proposals put forward by the leaders and promised to include them in a file that he will hand over to the next Minister. He also seized the opportunity to make league leaders aware of the importance of sport as an axis of economic development and a factor of social cohesion.
