iciHaiti - Politic : The SONAPI removed from the Caracol Industrial Park, for mismanagement
Following the mismanagement of the Caracol Industrial Park (PIC), the Board of the National Company of Industrial Parks (SONAPI) decided to temporarily entrust the management of the PIC (property of SONAPI) to the Technical Unit of Execution (UTE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Recall that this mismanagement led the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) not to follow up the donation of US $41 million for the construction of new industrial buildings as part of the ICP expansion plan.

Georges Sassine, President of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) and member of the Board of Directors of SONAPI, said that the Council had decided to publish an expression of interest for a private firm, Haitian or foreign take over the management of this park.

The decision to exclude SONAPI from the management of the PIC has been well received by the IDB and should allow the resumption of the funding process for the extension of the Park, the approval of the donation of $41 million could take place in late 2019 early 2020. However, according to our sources, the IDB would put two conditions : the satisfaction of the new management plan of the PIC and the establishment in Haiti of a new Government.
