iciHaiti - Crisis : Customs tax revenues down

Insecurity and the socio-political crisis weigh heavily on the collection of taxes, especially in the General Administration of Customs (AGD).

During the past month, the AGD has had days without any cargo. AGD employees said the ports were "almost empty" because many companies and traders had reduced or stopped placing orders due to the inability to sell their products, due to instability and the economic crisis in which Haiti has been sinking for several months...

Recall that already last June, a strike of nearly a month employees of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28057-haiti-strike-truce-at-the-dgi-tax-collection-will-finally-resume.html had deprived the State of several billion gourdes of tax revenue.
