Marie Christine Stephenson, the Minister resigned of Tourism deplores the socio-political crisis that has raged for months in the country, affecting all sectors of the economy and especially the Haitian tourism sector.

Nevertheless, on this World Tourism Day (Friday, 27 September), she highlights the importance of preserving and supporting the tourism sector that could help Haiti in its recovery process.

She remains confident that despite Haiti's own challenges, such as Jamaica or Colombia, which has been facing a dangerous security climate, today ranked among the tourism champions in the region, Haiti can stand up and opt for the sustainable tourism

Minister Stephenson recalls that Haiti has assets (climate, geographical position, nature, history, religion, gastronomy, culture...) that must be exploited to turn them into competitive advantages for the benefit of our thousands of young people in search jobs, our SMEs and our artisans.

As a result, she urges all citizens "motivated by their patriotic fiber to ensure that our natural, historical, cultural heritage is protected to be a vector of progress transferable to future generations."
