iciHaiti - Heritage : Fire Attempt of the Haitian National Pantheon Museum
Jean Michel Lapin, the Minister of Culture condemns the criminal act, perpetrated by unidentified individuals who threw Tuesday a Molotiv cocktail and stones on the premises of the Museum of Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH) on the Champ-de-Mars.

The museum was fortunately not damaged, however, the restaurant MUPANAH had broken windows and without the rapid intervention of security officers on site, the damage could have been considerable.

"Whatever the reason, nothing can justify this national cultural institution being targeted. Our cultural institutions, public or private, must be protected," said Minster Lapin, who calls on the police and judicial authorities to launch an investigation so that light is made and the guilty are punished.

For his part, Eddy Jackson Alexis Secretary of State for Communication vehemently condemns the attacks against the MUPANAH, recalling that the Museum which is a place of preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of our Nation, has been the target of several attacks the latter weeks, including the burning of a vehicle on the very courtyard of the Museum, launching molotov cocktail and stone throwing. It emphasizes that any destruction of cultural property is considered a crime and a violation of the heritage of the Nation.
