Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accident (STOP-Accidents), informs us that from 28 to 3 November 2019, 11 road accidents (-73% compared to the previous week) have made at least 26 victims (-66%): 3 dead (-57%) and 23 injured (-67%), several seriously.

According to STOP-Accident this drop is attributable to the sharp reduction in traffic, due to the blocking of roads by the protesters.

Camp Louise, Ouanaminthe, Canapé-Vert, Cap-Haitien, Delmas 75, Champ-de-Mars, Bassin Bleu, Saint Médard, among others, are the main towns and areas where these accidents were recorded.

Remember that this weekly report was made in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to a lack of resources, the STOP-Accident organization is unable to monitor the state of health of the wounded, some of whom die as a result of their injuries and are not counted.

STOP Accidents reiterates its call for caution on our roads and continues to ask the authorities concerned to take measures to reduce the risk of accidents on public roads.
