iciHaiti - Jamaica : Haitian fishermen charged with illegal entry

Four dehydrated Haitian fishermen landed at St Margaret's Bay in Portland, Northeastern Jamaica in Surrey County. Following the report of their presence by residents, the Maritime Police arrested them and took them to the Errol Flynn Marina for treatment.

Appearing in court, the 4 Haitians, whose names were not disclosed, explained that the engine of their boat had broken down and they had derived, explanations that did not prevent the judge to charge them with illegal entry into the territory of Jamaica and place them in pre-trial detention awaiting trial.

Our compatriots are expected to appear in front of the Portland Parish Court on December 6, before being deported to Haiti.
