iciHaiti - Health : Launch of the National Platform on maternal health

This week at the Kinam hotel, under the leadership of Marie Greta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health, the Launch Meeting of the National Platform on Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition was held.

This platform constitutes a multi-stakeholder forum (public sector, academic sector, private sector, civil society, technical and financial partners of the Ministry) which will play a central role in national processes, in particular in the development, implementation and monitoring of national reproductive health, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition strategies.

Recall that this Platform is the result of the Global Financing Mechanism (GFF) which was officially launched in Haiti by the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr Marie Gréta Roy Clément, in August 2019 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27400-haiti-news-zapping.html

Note that the GFF is an innovative funding mechanism put in place in 2015 to help fill the annual funding gap and, in doing so, end preventable deaths of mothers, children and adolescents and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

GFF helps national authorities to lead, in cooperation with partners, an evidence-based process to prioritize and jointly invest in profitable activities (such as family planning) and the elimination of bottlenecks strangulation in health systems. The GFF also supports the efforts of the Ministries of Finance and Health to ensure better use of existing resources.
