On Saturday, Chesnel Pierre, Director General of the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA), inaugurated a brand new branch in Trou du Nord.

The inauguration of this new ONA branch is part of efforts to strengthen the close ties between the institution and citizens living in the most remote regions of the country.

"The arrival of ONA in Trou du Nord is not fortuitous," said Pierre, explaining that the inauguration of this branch is the result of studies carried out on the commune proving economic potential in the region due, among other things its tobacco culture, sugar cane and fig banane. This, according to the DG of ONA, has generated employment in the region, hence the need, according to Pierre, to set up a regional office of ONA to help workers ensure their tomorrows.
