Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us in his weekly report that from December 21 to 22, 2019, 17 road accidents in the national territory made at least 44 victims : 8 dead and 36 injured, including several seriously.

Lack of lighting on the roads is one of the main causes of overnight accidents.

Remember that this weekly assessment was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to a lack of STOP-Accident means, it is not able to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die from their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents, draws attention to the Pèlerin area (commune of Pétion-ville) where several accidents have been recorded in recent weeks and reiterates its call for caution on our roads while continuing to ask the authorities concerned to take measures to reduce the risk of accidents on public roads.
