iciHaiti - FENAMH : Only an elected mayor can replace a mayor
Friday at the Montana hotel, the National Federation of Haitian Mayors (FENAMH) organized an extraordinary General Assembly to analyze the prospects for 2020.

While the mandate of mayors expires in June and July 2020 and the Government has failed in its obligations by organizing elections, the FENAMH reminds that the Constitution obliges the Executive power to organize elections so that there always have elected officials who run local authorities.

The members of FENAMH recalled that replacing the elected representatives by temporary agents would harm social peace and transform municipal institutions into the political office of the ruling party.

The members took, among other things, as a resolution : to continue to work with other social forces in order to protect and strengthen democratic achievements and to support the provisions aimed at creating acceptable political conditions in the dialogue between political, economic, social and moral forces of the country, in concert with the friendly countries of Haiti, for the execution of elections in October 2020.
