iciHaiti - Earthquake 2010 : Preliminary agenda of commemoration activities at FOKAL

As part of the activities surrounding the commemoration of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale, which destroyed 75% of Port-au-Prince in 35 seconds on January 12, 2010 and left nearly 300,000 victims, the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL, Fondasyon Konesans ak Libète) organizes from 10 to 25 January 2020, many events :

Preliminary agenda :

Friday January 10, 2020 :

Exhibition of fiction and documentary books on the earthquake in partner libraries (Libraries will have specific activities for their members: book club, reading, debates, workshop, etc...)

5:00 p.m. Ayibotalk (Ayibopost partner). FOKAL multipurpose room "Reconstruct a Haitian perspective of the earthquake of January 12, 2010" Guest speaker: Yanick Lahens.

Panel 1 : "How the earthquake has changed literary and popular language" Yanick Lahens & Evelyne Trouillot Hosted by Gaëlle Bien Aimé.

Panel 2 : "Haiti and its reconstruction". Architect Isabelle Jolicoeur and a guest hosted by Ralph Thomassaint Joseph.

Panel 3 : "10 years later, panorama of a daily catastrophe". Ayibopost editorial team led by Widlore Mérancourt.

Sunday January 12, 2020 (BY INVITATION) :

4h00 p.m. Square of FOKAL, reading of poetic texts, Koral FOKAL, speech of circumstances.

Tuesday January 14, 2020 :

5:00 p.m. Michele D. Pierre-Louis Lecture. "Haiti, 10 years later"

6.30 p.m. Opening of the photographic exhibition "Le Mémorial du Parc de Martissant, 2012-2020" with extracts from speeches, sound exhibition by Kanpe Pale (commemoration of January 12, 2011). Inauguration of Pascale Monnin's interactive sculpture in the FOKAL gardens. The photo exhibit will remain in the atrium until January 20. It will also be part of the Martissant Memorial.

Wednesday January 15 :

5:00 p.m. Literary talk at FOKAL with Georgia Makhlouf and Michel Soukar. Moderation by Elizabeth Pierre-Louis.

Thursday January 16 :

6h00 p.m. In Memoriam Show ”by Jean-René Lemoine, directed by Miracson Saint-Val.

Friday January 17 :

6h00 p.m. "In Memoriam" Show by Jean-René Lemoine, directed by Miracson Saint-Val.

Saturday January 25 :

4h00 p.m. "Slammed" walk. Route from Maison Chenet to Rue M to walk to Maison Dufort at 3 avenue du Travail with interludes from Slam. Slam show at the Dufort house. Resumption of the exhibition on Gingerbread houses.

All activities are free and open to the public, subject to availability, except the activity of January 12 which will be by invitation.
