iciHaiti - Health : Important meeting on illicit drug trafficking

This week, the Ministry of Public Health through the Department of Pharmacy, Medicine and Traditional Medicine organized an important meeting for discussions with the State authorities involved in the regulation of the pharmaceutical sector.

The objective of the meeting was to strengthen the mechanisms of inter-ministerial coordination and control of the pharmaceutical sector with a view to providing an urgent and concerted response to the problem of illicit drug trafficking.

At the end of the discussions, the authorities present, including Pierre Pascal Volcy, the Head of the Drug Trafficking Brigade (BLTS) of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) took the decision to support the Ministry in its fight against illicit drug trafficking to protect the health of the population.

This meeting took place in the presence of the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Marie Gréta Roy Clément, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Lauré Adrien and several senior officials from different Ministries (Interior, Commerce and Justice) of representatives of the Prosecutor's Office of Port-au-Prince, the General Administration of Customs, the National Airport Authority, the General Directorate of Taxes, Brigade for the Fight against Drug Trafficking, of Town Hall of Tabarre, Pétion-ville and Port-au-Prince.
