iciHaiti - Security : 32 accidents, 65 victims including 5 schoolchildren

Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services for Palliative Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that from January 20 to 26, 2020, 32 road accidents on the national territory made at least 65 victims : 14 dead including 5 schoolchildren in uniform and 51 injured (the majority under 30 years of age), including several seriously.

Ouanaminthe, Miragoâne, Pétion-ville, airport road, road of Frères, Grande-Rivière du Nord, Morne Grand-Gilles, Lascahobas, Léogâne, Fonds-Parisien, Limonade, Arcahaie, Petit-Goâve among others, are the main ones communes and zones where these accidents were recorded.

Remember that this weekly assessment was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to a lack of STOP-Accident means, it is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die from their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents, draws attention to the Pèlerin area (commune of Pétion-ville) where several accidents have been recorded in recent weeks and reiterates its call for caution on our roads while continuing to ask the authorities concerned to take measures to reduce the risk of accidents on public roads.
