On Thursday, the new Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe installed the former adviser of the National Palace (jurist and career diplomat) Jean W. Dorneval in his functions as Minister of Defense. He replaces the outgoing Minister Enold Joseph in this post.

Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe welcomed the arrival of Jean W. Dorneval, a lawyer by training and a career diplomat. Recalling "The priority of my government is security. When you want security, you have to invest money in it...", he said, before assuring him of his full support.

For his part, the new Minister of Defense, Jean W. Dorneval, says he measures the burden entrusted to him by the Haitian head of state Jovenel Moïse. "I take it on as a patriotic duty. I will do everything in my power to meet the expectations of the President of the Republic, serve the Nation and meet the structural challenges of our national defense," promises Mr. Dorneval

"For our part, we will endeavor to give voice to the armed forces by creating communication networks for the public. Thus we will give more visibility and efficiency to the work of this ministry, which is called to become a pillar in the socioeconomic renewal of the country. We will do everything to ensure that this institution, which has had its letters of nobility in the history of our country, regains its structural foundation and its deserved place in the social body," agrees Jean W. Dorneval
