iciHaiti - Covid-19 : The DR further strengthens its border with Haiti
The Dominican Minister of Defense Rubén Paulino Sen sent in reinforcement to the 3rd, 4th and 5th Infantry Brigades having jurisdiction at the land border, a contingent of soldiers whose mission is to maintain "sealed" with the military units already on the spot (more than 10,000 men) the 391 km border with Haiti.
These soldiers are also tasked with containing and preventing the spread of Coronavirus Covid-19 across the border and into border provinces where better control of the entry and spread of the virus is achieved. In addition, they will contribute with the other units deployed at the border to the fight against smuggling of goods, trafficking in arms and drugs, smuggling and theft of cattle, among others...
These measures are part of President Medina's intention to ensure, control and defend the land border area against any threat to national interests, they also aim to increase the operational capacity of the troops, maintain dynamism and maintain the military spirit of soldiers so that the border is secure and calm 24/7.
