On July 22 in the afternoon, a small makeshift boat ensuring the route Labouc - Fort-Liberté, wrecked with 17 people on board who had just completed their working day in a rock quarry at Labouc...

Bad weather conditions (strong winds) and the overload of the boat were the cause of the sinking.

Rescue operations were carried out by the brigadiers of the Civil Protection in order to recover the bodies of the victims. The death toll stands at 4 dead and 13 survivors,
