iciHaiti - Petit-Goâve : A new cohort of lawyers joins the Bar

On Friday October 16, more than a hundred law students from different cities in Haiti joined the Petit-Goâve Jurisdiction Bar as trainee lawyers.

Given the high number of young lawyers, the swearing-in ceremony took place in the two courtrooms of the Court of First Instance of Petit-Goâve.

Many speakers : the Dean, the Commissioner, the President of the Bar, Judge Arentz, Me Fadael, and the two representatives of the recipients took turns speaking and lavished salutary advice to the young trainee lawyers and called for respect for the ethics of the lawyer profession.

The Bâtonnier Milord took the opportunity to vigorously condemn the assassination of the student Grégory St -Hilaire before urging the young trainee lawyers to exercise their profession well by applying the ethical rules and to be true defenders underlining "You have just solemnly lent the oath intended to fix your duties in the exercise of your profession around the values of dignity and honor. By this oath, you have just acquired the title of lawyer and you have access to the practice of this profession. You will have to fight against flattery and corruption. As of the Minute I speak to you, you are not a lawyer, but you are called to be one by respecting a set of conditions and efforts".

Note that our colleague from the local press, Mrs. Marie José and the son of the Director of Le Nouveau Monde College, were among these new trainee lawyers.
