iciHaiti - Health : 60 nurses trained in obstetric emergencies

As part of the CERF-UEF project of the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the reduction of maternal mortality in Haiti, 60 nurses from the fleet of the National Ambulance Center (CAN) of Ministry of Public Health were trained in October on the management of obstetric emergencies.

Divided into three groups, these nurses from the departments of the West and Nippes received three days of theoretical and practical training which will enable them to improve the care of pregnant women in CAN ambulances.

Recall that statistics from the National Ambulance Center show that more than 35% of ambulance transfers are dedicated to obstetric emergencies (hemorrhages and eclampsia). This continuous training of ambulance stqff is a priority for the Ministry of Public Health, which has requested technical and financial support from PAHO/WHO for this purpose.

These training sessions, which also include the training of Rescuers and Drivers, will continue in other departments.
