During the month of October, the Bahamian Immigration Department expelled and repatriated to Port-au-Prince, 42 Haitian migrants in an irregular migratory situation.
A first group of 11 Haitians (8 men and 3 women) were expelled from New Providence while 31 others (13 men, 13 women, 3 girls, 2 boys) were expelled from Grand Bahamas.
At the same time, a joint investigation by immigration officers and the police led to the arrest of a Bahamian captain of a Bahamian-registered ship that the police intercepted in the port of Freeport with Haitians on board haitians clandestine.
