iciHaiti - Insecurity : Indignation against acts of vandalism committed against FHADIMAC

In a note, the Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA), strongly protests and is indignanted against the acts of vandalism committed against the premises of the Haitian Foundation for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases (FHADIMAC), at avenue John Brown, by demonstrators, during the anti-government mobilization on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-32341-icihaiti-demonstration-a-health-center-attacked-and-vandalized.html

"This act of barbarism is undoubtedly the work of individuals who do not understand the importance of a humanitarian institution like FHADIMAC which has been working for thirty-three years to save lives, and more particularly diabetics and hypertensive people in Haiti. This once again demonstrates the difficulty in managing to change mentalities in Haiti. This action also testifies to the determination of part of the population to let themselves be carried away by their instinct of destruction without worrying about the importance of collective goods, just to get their personal demands across [...]

Such actions risk discouraging potential benefactors or patrons and heads of other philanthropic organizations across the country who care about contributing to a better tomorrow for our compatriots [...]

Following this regrettable incident, FOLONHA expresses its sympathies to the staff of FHADIMAC and more particularly to the founder of the institution, Dr René N. Charles and the Executive Director, Dr Nancy Charles Larco. It hopes that they will not be intimidated or discouraged by such acts and that they will continue to provide their usual services to the community.
