Friday February 19, 2021, Patrix Sévère, the Minister of Agriculture, accompanied by Marc-Edouard Dieujuste, Director of Infrastructure of the Ministry, Marc-Edouard Dieujuste, paid a site monitoring visit to Baradères in order to inquire about the progress of the deviation works of the great Baradères river, launched in mid January https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-32764-icihaiti-politic-launch-of-work-to-divert-the-great-baraderes-river.html intended to protect the life and property from flooding of both the population of the city center and that of the 5th communal section, Nicolas.

At the moment, efforts are concentrated on the highest part of the mountain. While we had a 26-meter mountain to break, only 14 meters now separate the technicians from the river level. According to officials, the site is "in an acceptable phase".

Since the work does not only concern the upper parts, Minister Sévère agrees to send other additional heavy machinery, including graders, compactors and trucks. The idea is to complete the work before the rainy season which will start in two months.

"To protect people's lives and guarantee the food security of the population, no sacrifice is too great", believes the Minister who will work extra hard so that this work can be completed within the allotted time and before the rainy season which will start within two months.
