The coronavirus has changed the way the world engages in film festivals, including the 5th Haiti International Film Festival which went virtual for the first time in August 2020.

Today, Executive Director Jacquil Constant announced that the 6th Haiti International Film Festival, scheduled for August 14-15, 2021, is accepting applications in the short, documentary and feature film categories via FilmFreeway : filmfreeway.com/HaitiInternationalFilmFestival

"The COVID-19 pandemic has made things difficult and the film festival has successfully transitioned to a two-day online event" said Constant "If the curve for Covid-19 flattens, we plan to return to our festival house at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater, 4800 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. The heart of our festival merges Hollywood with Haitian culture and brings the stories that shape Haiti to a wider audience."

"It is a dream to bring together the Haitian creative community through the Haiti International Film Festival, which has illuminated the aspirations of Haitian filmmakers since 2015," said Constant "We are also developing a streaming platform for Haitian filmmakers in order to allow a diverse audience to discover their Haitian films throughout the year."
