iciHaiti - Obituary : A genius of Haitian scholarly music has left for the Eternal East
Pradel Henriquez Minister of Culture says he is shaken following the unexpected death Thursday, June 10, 2021 of the virtuoso of Haitian scholarly music, the Reverend Father David César, Director of the Holy Trinity School of Music and of the philharmonic orchestra of this school.

Father César, who died at the age of 56, was born on March 1st, 1965, in Port-au-Prince. He divides his life between classical music and the ministry of God. Appointed Director of the Sainte-Trinité Music School in 1996, he later became Director of the Sainte-Trinité Philharmonic Orchestra in 2000, which he conducted until his death. A violinist, this Anglican priest is recognized as one of the great musical talents of America.

With him, the Ministry under the Martelly Government collaborated in particular in the context of the establishment of the National Institute of Music of Haiti (INAMUH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-5887-haiti-culture-official-launch-of-the-national-institute-of-music-of-haiti.html

The departure of this great man is an inestimable loss for Haitian music, especially our learned music. Moreover, his disappearance leaves a great void in musical education, especially within the Holy Trinity School of Music.

Minister Henriquez salutes the departure of this titan and presents, on behalf of the whole Government, his sympathies to his family, to the Anglican Church in Haiti, to his collaborators and to the whole family of Haitian classical and lyrical music.
