After the assassination of President Jovenel Moise, the United States sent soldiers to strengthen the security of their Embassy in Haiti. An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said as many as a dozen men had been deployed in the days following the assassination of the President of Haiti.

While it is not uncommon for the United States to send additional security forces, including Marines, to its Embassies around the world in times of crisis, this reinforcement deployment demonstrates the level of uncertainty and insecurity in Haiti.
