During his installation this week, James Cadet, the new incumbent of the Ministry of the Environment, painted a picture of the various environmental challenges that Haiti is called upon to face.

For James Cadet, it is imperative that the issue of the environment, in particular the fight against climate change, occupies an important place in government action.

He specified the four priority projects through which he intends to engage all the organs of the ministry in collaboration with the technical and financial partners of the Ministry : capacity building, environmental rehabilitation, strengthening of urban resilience and sectors. nerve centers of the national economy and the revitalization of international cooperation.

James Cadet A lawyer and theologian by training has extensive experience in the Ministry of the Environment where he has held various positions of responsibility.

In 2013 he was Assistant Head of Service at the Environmental Inspection and Surveillance Department (DISE); in 2014 he was quickly promoted to Head of Operations at the Environmental Surveillance Corps; in 2015, he became Director of DISE; in 2016 James Cadet became Chargé de Mission and Head of Legal Affairs at the Technical Secretariat of the General Directorate

A rigorous civil servant, James Cadet held since 2017 until his appointment, the position of Director of the Climate Change Directorate, while being the National Focal Point of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
