iciHaiti - DR : 71 illegal Haitians intercepted in Azua

Two public transport minibuses on the Elías Piña / Santo Domingo route were intercepted during a traffic check outside Azua-Baní at around 2:30am.

After checking, the police found 71 illegal Haitian passengers (37 men, 25 women and 9 minors) not holding any legal residence documents in Dominican territory. They were arrested and detained at Azua police station while awaiting surrender to the Directorate General of Migration.

The two minibus drivers Danilo Cabrera De los Santos and Deyvi Álvarez Caraballo, were arrested as well as 4 other Dominicans (Manuel Barroa Quezada, Antony Acosta Tejada, Yorky Canario Encarnación and Ronny Calderón de Los Santos) as accomplices for the legal consequences.

The two white Toyota Quater minibuses were seized.
