iciHaiti - Pestel : Towards the upcoming closure of Mexican mobile hospital

César Louissaint, the Departmental Delegate of Grand'Anse accompanied by Wadson Montisino Clénador Departmental Director of Civil Protection and a team from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and two members of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) of the regional office of the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the municipality of Pestel to see the progress of the humanitarian response to the earthquake of August 14, 2021.

César Louissaint and the delegation visited, among other things, the field hospital, located in Pestel with the support of the Mexican Embassy in Haiti. This mobile hospital, finally, works with more than 30 health specialists from Mexico and receives more than 76 patients per day.

According to the assessment, the hospital could close its doors soon due to the marked decrease in health emergencies directly linked to the earthquake.

Indeed, the patients who have benefited from hospital services in recent days have no relation to the consequences of the earthquake.
