The Office for the Protection of the Citizen (OPC) expresses its deepest concern at the situation of several thousand Haitian compatriots who are on the American-Mexican border, more precisely under the Del Rio highway bridge https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34786-haiti-flash-joe-biden-orders-the-deportation-of-thousands-of-illegal-haitian-migrants.html . These migrants wishing to enter American territory are beginning to be deported en masse by the American authorities.

The OPC notes that the migrants who arrived in Haiti "have been the object of several human rights violations, in particular the non-respect of physical, moral and psychological integrity. The most vulnerable social categories, in particular young children and pregnant women, have not been entitled to special treatment."

"Others, who are still on the Mexican-American border, are currently living in a situation that could not be more inhuman. Abandoned without support, they do not have access to drinking water, food, health care in violation of the elementary principles of protection of migrants adopted by the United Nations."
