The White House in a note formally denied false information suggesting that the United States is sending Haitian migrants from the southern border of the United States to Guantanamo.

Recall that on Wednesday, news channels reported that the Department of Homeland Security had announced that it had issued a new contract to operate a migrant center at Guantanamo for Haitian migrants gathering at the US border with Mexico.

Thursday, Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary said "The Biden administration does not send migrants from the southern border of the United States to Guantanamo [...] There was never a plan to do that [...] I think there was some confusion related to the Migrant Operations Center, which has been used for decades to process migrants interdicted at sea for third-country resettlement."
