Jean Emmanuel Jacquet the Minister of Culture learned with dismay of the death of the singer-songwriter, Rodrigue Milien, a prominent figure in Haitian popular song of the 70s and 80s.

Founder of the "Combite Creole" group with Toto Nécessité, Rodrigue Milien died on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in a Miami hospital at the age of 75.

Rodigue Milien essential voice of Haitian lyrical expression which sang the love, the joy and the sorrows of a whole generation in particular, that of the 1980s "had the secret of finding the right words and the best melodies to translate the pains of humble and also their hopes. That is why it will remain in the hearts of music lovers for a long time to come.

The Haitian Government expresses its deepest sympathies to the parents of the musician and to all his fans. May the voice of the troubadour continue to make us dream and give us the courage to "look tomorrow".

We will still remember that this great voice of Haitian popular music left behind several successful songs, including "rejecte'm" and "Confession"...
