iciHaiti - Japan : Post-earthquake aid of $1.41 million 16/10/2021 10:00:03
The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Haiti has received a contribution of $1.41 million from the Government of Japan which will provide emergency food assistance over the next 6 months to nearly 30,000 people affected by the recent earthquake that hit southern Haiti on August 14 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34681-haiti-earthquake-latest-assessment-of-civil-protection.html and also to support essential WFP logistics services, including the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS).
This contribution from Japan will enable WFP and its partners to reach the hardest hit areas.
Note that in addition to this contribution, earlier this year, WFP and Japan collaborated to provide school meals to children in the Artibonite department in Haiti. Thanks to Japan, more than 20,000 school-aged children from vulnerable families were able to receive a daily meal.
