For this beauty enthusiast, the land of Haiti and its history, who has just left us, on the night of October 15 to 16, 2021, only art and culture could save the world. He devoted his entire life as a creator, writer and critic to this quest for beauty as the last bulwark against the dehumanizing unknown, recalls Jean Emmanuel Jacquet, the Minister of Culture.

In this painful circumstance, Minister Jacquet "salutes the departure of Mérès Wèche, and on behalf of the whole Government, expresses his sympathies to his family and to his aesthetic friends from Haiti as well as from abroad. Because, despite his passion for his land, the eternal Beaumont, Mérès was above all a citizen of the world. He often said that there is no solitude for someone who knows how to give; for those who know how to meet the other.
