iciHaiti - Weekly road report : 200% increase in people killed on the roads
The Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that for the period from February 14 to 20, 37 accidents on the national territory (+ 32% compared to the previous week https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-35965-icihaiti-weekly-road-report-28-accidents-at-least-78-victims.html ) made at least 92 victims (+17.9%): 18 dead (+200%) and 74 injured (+7.2%) including several seriously...

Marchand Dessalines and Saint-Marc (Dept. Artibonite, Léogane, Kenscoff, Pacot, Delmas 33, Péguy-Ville and Puits-Blain (West Dept.), Pignon and Quartier-Morin (North Dept., Route de Jacmel (South-East ), Les Cayes and Torbeck (South Dept.) are the main municipalities and areas where these accidents have been recorded.

Let's recall that this assessment was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross (CRH).

However, due to a lack of sufficient financial resources, STOP-Accident is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die as a result of their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents reiterates its call for caution on our roads and urges the Government to strengthen prevention measures and set up a systematic vehicle inspection service. In addition, the Organization invites road users to behave responsibly to reduce the risk of accidents.
