iciHaiti - Social : 301 Haitians repatriated from Turkey 30/07/2022 10:20:02
Many of these compatriots had been promised a better life and job opportunities but finally found themselves in a different and difficult reality which, after 1 year and more of disappointments, left them without resources. Despite the situation of insecurity in Haiti, they appealed to the Haitian Chancellery for their repatriation being unable to afford a plane ticket... The International Organization for Migration (IOM - Haiti) and IOM - Turkey, in collaboration with the Haitian Chancellery, the Citizen Protection Office and other partners, made their return possible. The IOM team provided pre-departure and post-arrival assistance to Haitians at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, which included humanitarian assistance, protection services and health care.
