Monday, September 26, the situation was tense in Gonaïves, where all the main entrances to the city were blocked by barricades. Early in the morning, particularly angry demonstrators attacked the building housing the Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which they ransacked, vandalized and then set on fire. Documents, archives and materials were taken out of the premises to be set on fire in the street.
A little later other individuals also set fire to part of the premises of the Town Hall...
