"We hope that the United Nations system, which has better capacities in terms of human, financial and material resources [...] can provide a rapid response, that will be our objective. We hope that the countries of the inter-American system on the Security Council will work on this issue to urgently advance the request made by Haiti." Almagro believes that in Haiti the population lives without fuel, without sanitary conditions, without drinking water, without access to health care, little food and the children are deprived of schools... emphasizing in conclusion "We are in a situation of implosion in this country which requires urgent action in this regard."
