The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has distributed agricultural tool kits to 2,500 vulnerable households, 53% of whom are women, in the communes of Corail, Pestel and Beaumont in the department of Grand'Anse.

This distribution was carried out as part of the "Resilient Agriculture and Sustainable School Feeding" project funded by the Delegation of the European Union in Haiti in response to food insecurity in Grand'Anse.

The project supports communities affected by the earthquake of August 14, 2021 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34681-haiti-earthquake-latest-assessment-of-civil-protection.html which caused the destruction of rural roads, and seriously damaged the living conditions of many households, through the loss of their land and means of production, including agricultural tools.

This project supports the revival of agricultural production for 4,200 vulnerable households. It strengthens key agricultural value chains, improves the availability of locally produced nutritious foods that will contribute to school canteen projects.
