iciHaiti - Health : Inauguration of the new administrative premises and dormitories of CAN
Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of Chyine) Ku Wen-jiann this week participated in the inauguration of the new administration building and dormitories of the National Ambulance Center (CAN) funded by Taiwan under the Strengthening Project operational capacity.

This new building will significantly improve working conditions for ambulance personnel, as well as medical care for their patients.

Dr. Alex Larsen, Minister of Public Health while expressing his gratitude to the Taiwanese cooperation for its financial contribution and the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) for its technical support of each moment, recalled that during his first stint at the head of the Ministry "the need to ensure the rapid transport of post-earthquake emergencies was the basis of the decision to set up the CAN. From its initial fleet of 49 ambulances, the CAN currently has around a hundred ambulances spread over all the departments."

Dr Didié Hérold Louis, Director General of CAN, specified that it took 18 months to complete this construction work, adding "Our paramedics who live in Carrefour, Croix-des-Bouquets, or other difficult areas access, will be able to spend the 48 or 72 hours of service on site in a pleasant, comfortable setting. Administrative executives are not left out, since new office spaces, just as comfortable, are reserved for them."
