For almost 6 months the city of Les Cayes as well as several neighboring towns have been living in blackout. If the population says they have no explanation from the Electricity of Haiti (EDH) the reason is before a lack of fuel and the population is no stranger to the problem.

Me Ketnor Estinvil, the Departmental Delegate of the South recalls that the State no longer subsidizes fuel and that a truck of 9,000 gallons of fuel costs 6.7 million gourdes while the semi-autonomous Center of EDH receives less of 4 million gourdes and does not have the capacity to subsidize its customers...

The South departmental delegate, indicated "The Government has not yet told me what it intends to do for the South on this subject."

Last minute : According to our information, the semi-autonomous ED'H center in Les Cayes has received a 9,000 gallon diesel tanker from the Government. Electricity could return to homes this Wednesday or Thursday, temporarily ending a 6-month blackout.
