iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien: Presentation of an important study on the Flood Risk Management Plan
On Wednesday March 1st, 2023, together with the firm "V3 Companies Ltd", the Municipal Commission carried out a workshop around the report of the Flood Risk Management Plan at the municipal level.
As part of the Municipal Development and Urban Resilience Project, to support the efforts of the Municipal Commission, the World Bank financed a major study on the Master Plan for Flood Risk Mitigation for the catchment area of the Upper Cape Rivers, Commerce River and Any River, including climate change, urbanization and land use variables.
It should be noted that this study aims, among other things : to help develop a Flood Risk Management Plan, detailing a balanced set of structural and non-structural options for the city of Cap-Haitien and its upstream watersheds. This Plan will enable the Central Government and the Municipality to discuss the most effective investments to reduce the risk of pluvial, river and coastal flooding to an acceptable level, and to direct urban planning towards higher areas, where the risk is weak.
