6 people were killed and 3 others injured this week during a land dispute in Abraham (4th communal section of Miragoâne).

According to the facts reported, Me Arismon Saint-Clair, lawyer at the Aquin bar would have opposed the surveying of a land by a group of 4 people accompanied by Frantz Jean-François, a police officer in charge of the group's security.

Following a violent altercation between Me Arismon Saint-Clair and Police Officer Frantz Jean-François, the latter shot the lawyer with several bullets. The population revolted by this assassination killed the policeman with knives and lynched the 4 people who accompanied him, namely Jean Smith Chéry the surveyor, Jacky Edmond who claimed to be the owner of the land and Bertino Illersaint and Jonel Dériva who accompanied.

3 members of the population were injured and a bailiff was arrested.

According to testimonies, the police who arrived on the scene set fire to houses and at least two vehicles in retaliation for the death of their brother in arms, sowing panic among the residents.
