The Commander of the Dominican Army, Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, announced the strengthening of security in the municipality of Pepillo Salcedo (Province of Monte Cristi) with the dispatch of more soldiers.

These reinforcements are necessary to drive out of the Dominican territory armed individuals, members of gangs who operate in Fort Liberté in Haiti and who cross the border to rob Dominican citizens and tradespeople in the bay of Manzanillo.

General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre also ordered day and night patrols and the reinforcement of the routes regularly taken by these Haitian bandits to commit their crimes.

These military operations are led by Colonel Domingo Cruz Sosa, Commander of the tenth battalion of the Dominican army.
