iciHaiti - Taiwan : Towards cooperation between Cap-Haitien and Kaohsiung
Monday, May 8, 2023, Roudy Stanley Penn, Haiti's Ambassador to Taiwan, discussed bilateral exchanges in the fields of education, health and smart agriculture with Chen Chi-mai, the Mayor of Kaohsiung.

Penn hailed Kaohsiung's innovation under Chen's administration and said the city's transformation into a smart city and adoption of digital technology were key factors in its rapid development. He said that in addition to exchanges at the national level, now is the time for cooperation between cities.

The Ambassador said that Haiti's second largest city, Cap-Haitien, shares historical and urban characteristics with Kaohsiung and is interested in exchanging ideas and exploring more cooperation opportunities.

Chen said Kaohsiung is the Taiwanese city that most closely resembles Cap-Haitien in terms of climate and geography. He highlighted Kaohsiung's use of smart agriculture to improve production management efficiency and said the city's development experience could provide appropriate solutions for Cap-Haitien.
