"Mr. Francisque had published several reference works on the Haitian economy, including the book "The Economic and Social Structure of Haiti" which has since become a classic of Haitian social sciences. Francisque led a career as a statesman as well as a university professor. He was Minister of Economy and Finance and Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1981. He also held numerous positions in Haitian diplomacy as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Haiti in France, Germany, the Netherlands, at the United Nations Office and in Geneva, Switzerland. The Embassy of Haiti in France presents its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the much-missed statesman, scientist and cultured professor, Professor Francisque." IH/iciHaiti
