iciHaiti - DR : Seizure of 630,000 contraband cigarettes from Haiti

630,000 units of smuggled cigarettes from Haiti of Capital brand (3,150 cartridges of 10 packs of 20 cigarettes) contained in 63 cardboard boxes were seized in a house located in the Los Espartillos sector of the municipality of Jimaní (Province of Independencia)

n its report, the 5th Infantry Brigade of the army of the Dominican Republic indicates that the house was raided following a work of the intelligence service (G-2) informing them that contraband cigarettes had been introduced on Dominican territory and hidden in this house.

So far this year, authorities have seized a large number of cigarettes of various brands, narcotics, alcohol and other goods smuggled from Haiti, and have arrested several people linked to these traffics.
